An archaeologist from the schoolbooks

Boris Borisovich Piotrovsky was director of the Hermitage for 26 years. He died at the age of 82, still serving in that position. From his first visit as a schoolboy, his whole life was linked to the museum.

The Board of the Foundation La Biennale di Venezia, chaired by Paolo Baratta, attributed the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement for the 11th International Architecture Exhibition to Frank Gehry.
